Minors (anyone under the age of 18)

We strongly recommend that minors be accompanied by an adult. The park does not assume any responsibility or liability for unattended minors.

Parking

Free, convenient parking is located throughout the grounds. Handicap parking is available in all parking areas, but is most conveniently located in Lots A, C, D, and E.

Rain Check & Early Closing Policy

Sorry, we do not issue rain checks or refunds simply because it rains during your visit and you want to leave the park, so please be aware of weather forecasts. The park must close prior to 7:00 pm for return visit tickets to be issued. Keep in mind that an overcast day often means shorter lines and just as many thrills! Most rides and attractions continue to operate in light rain. In the event of heavy downpours or an electrical storm, many rides and attractions will close until the storm has passed and then reopen.

Our Great Day Guarantee provides a Return Visit Ticket when the park announces closing prior to 7:00 pm due to weather or other circumstances. Return Visit Tickets are only issued to those with a valid wristband, and to receive this ticket, guests must present their valid wristband at Guest Services prior to leaving the park. (Season Pass holders and free buddies are not eligible for free return visit tickets).

Picnic Baskets / Coolers / Grills

Guests are permitted to bring their own picnic basket into the park. You may enjoy your picnic lunch in one of our scenic picnic groves. Pavilions that are reserved for group events will be marked with a RESERVED sign. Any pavilion that is not reserved is open to the general public. You may claim some picnic tables within for your group, but please be courteous and share the pavilion with other parties. Grilling is not permitted within a pavilion, but must be done outside of any pavilion. Picnic baskets/coolers are permitted at SoakZone, but absolutely no glass bottles/dishes or grills are permitted within SoakZone.

Strollers, Wagons & Wheelchairs

A limited number of Strollers, Wagons, and Wheelchairs are available for rent at Guest Services (located in Hootin’ Holler behind the General Store). The park rents only standard “push” wheelchairs and does not have motorized wheelchairs available for rent. All equipment rentals require a photo ID to be held as a deposit for the duration of the rental. Advance reservation may be done online to improve availability chances. Equipment not reserved in advance via our online store will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Smoking

Idlewild and SoakZone is a family environment to be enjoyed by all. Therefore we have made efforts to accommodate both smokers and non-smokers. As a courtesy to our guests and for safety reasons, we ask that smokers refrain from smoking in all areas of the park except for parking lots and those areas that are specifically marked as Designated Smoking Areas. Additionally, smoking is prohibited in all queue lines, on all rides and attractions, inside pavilions and at all restaurant seating and theater locations. Management reserves the right to ask any guest to extinguish cigarettes/cigars/pipes immediately if they are not in a designated smoking area, and also to ask any guest to leave, without refund, for continued non-compliance.

Virginia Graeme Baker Pool and Spa Safety Act

The Virginia Graeme Baker Pool and Spa Safety Act requires VGB-compliant pool drain grates. We are VGB compliant, but please note in some applications these grates have a raised profile off the floor as mandated by the Law. Warning: Raised Grate. All of our raised grates have a red circle highlighting their location. They are designed to be stepped on but in shallow water situations they may pose a tripping hazard.

Nature & Wildlife
Idlewild and SoakZone are set within nature. We do not control or restrain wildlife. Wildlife exists in and around these facilities, and it can pose dangers to people. Please be aware that you may encounter the following creatures, among others: Bears, Snakes, Snapping Turtles, Swans and Geese, Bobcats, Deer, Raccoons, and Skunks. Be cautious and respectful of all wildlife. Keep your distance, do not approach animals to "shoo" them away, take pictures, or otherwise. Never disturb, startle, harass or feed animals. Wild animals are not pets. All wildlife may be dangerous, especially if harassed, cornered or threatened. You may also encounter mosquitos, bees and wasps, spiders and other insects which may sting or bite, and which may carry disease. Please notify a park manager if you have safety concerns over a wildlife issue, or if you spot dangerous wildlife on park grounds. Thank you.
Park Policy
  • Alcoholic beverages, firearms and pets are not permitted on park grounds. Idlewild and SoakZone is licensed by the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board to serve alcohol. Historically, the park has only exercised the use of this license during the Ligonier Highland Games event in September. As a test to gauge guest interest in the product for future pre- or post-season events, Idlewild will serve beer only during the weekend of October 27 – 28, 2018. Beer sales will take place at one location within the park (the Taco Stand in the Mineshaft Kitchen). Product availability will not be marketed beyond menu signs at that location, and all transactions will be handled by Team Members certified through the Responsible Alcohol Management Program (RAMP). Guests purchasing beer will be required to show valid photo ID with proof of age and will be wristbanded as proof that they have been verified. Guests will only be able to purchase a maximum of 2 beers per day, and will be permitted to carry the poured beer around the park in a clear cup. Any beer and alcohol brought in from the outside is still not permitted on park grounds. This weekend’s test is not an indication that Idlewild will continue liquor sales in the future, but is merely an evaluation of having the product available at the park. Guests with further questions regarding beer sales may visit Guest Services. Thank you.
  • Some rides are restricted by height. Please see our height checking system at Guest Services.
  • Hand-held infants are not permitted on most rides.
  • Children that cannot walk independently to the ride, disabilities excluded, are considered Hand Held Infants. Most rides and attractions cannot accommodate Hand Held Infants.
  • We strongly suggest that minors under the age of 18 be accompanied by a parent or adult guardian. The parent/guardian is solely responsible for supervision of their minors. The park does not assume any responsibility or liability for unattended minors. Children are the responsibility of the parent or guardian.
