Olde Idlewild

Idlewild has been providing smiles, laughter, and memories longer than almost every other amusement park in the entire United States. Originally started as a picnic ground along the Ligonier Valley Rail Road, the park has blossomed into a beautiful amusement resort guaranteed to deliver fun.

Here, you won’t find mega-thrill attractions that lay claim to being the tallest or fastest, but instead, classic rides that the entire family can enjoy together. From the classic 1931 Merry-Go-Round, to the steel Wild Mouse coaster, there is something for every member of the family. Don’t miss flying high on the Paratrooper or Flying Aces, or spinning in circles on the Round Up or Tilt A Whirl. The Balloon Race and Scrambler offer family fun, while the Spider and Round Up ramp up the thrills. And don’t forget the daily entertainment at the Hillside Theater that will everyone tapping their toes and clapping their hands.

There’s a unique charm to the park. It has a laid-back atmosphere that invites you to relax. Shady trees, lakes, and the Loyalhanna Creek passing through its center make it compare more to a state park than any other amusement park you’ve ever seen. The center midways are lined with benches and there are plenty of picnic groves where families can enjoy a picnic lunch together as they take a break during their fun-filled day.

Nostalgia is mixed with modern fun in a way that delights all generations. There are still nods to the park’s past – like the original 1878 train station standing in the center of the park, while we continue to look to the future and plan new and exciting adventures. Come, take the ride of your life at Olde Idlewild!
